MATCH REPORT: Manchester League Senior Final
The mid-week Manchester League season drew to a close with the staging of the Manchester Senior Individual at Stockport on Wednesday, when a disappointing field of just nine riders defied the wet conditions to compete in the league’s blue riband finale.
Astley flyer Reece Pollitt took full advantage of the draw that gave him inside gate positions to both defending champion Jake Read and 2016 winner Ben Higham to record four straight wins for a 16 point maximum.
Read dropped just the one point to Pollitt in heat six to finish runner-up with 15 points whilst Higham lost to Pollitt and then to Read in the final race to take the bronze medal.
Reece was also presented with the Manchester Senior Grand Prix award as the top scorer over the six Manchester GP rounds.
A good result for Reece which should give him a nice little confidence boost ahead of this weekend’s British Individual Championship events.
1st Reece Pollitt (Astley & Tyldesley) 16 pts.
2nd Jake Read (Stockport) 15 pts.
3rd Ben Higham (Stockport) 14 pts.
