CLUB NEWS: Hawks take honours in Norfolk Derby

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES visited Eaton Park on a warm Wednesday evening for the second of four Division 1 local derbies against Norwich Stars. The temperature in the pits matched the weather as in any local derby and it was Craig Norton, making his first League appearance since transferring down the B1172 in the winter, who made the difference for the Hawks. He teamed up with Leigh Cossey for a 7-3 win in heat four which put the Hawks six points up and Norwich, despite a couple of heat wins and a superb performance from Norfolk Champion Paddy Wenn, never really looked like pegging that lead back. Overall a good solid team performance from the Hawks.

Four Hethersett riders made the long trip to South Wales to contest the first National Round of the British Youth & Junior Grand Prix at East Newpoort. George Larter-Dixon rode well to score 12 points in the Under-12s, missing out on the B Final by a regional countback. He finished second in the C Final. The other three riders were in the tough Junior category and struggled to adapt to the tight, almost circular, track. Charlie Lyth made it to the B Final where he came third. Paul Delaiche (2nd) and Daniel Longlands (3rd) were in the C Final.

The Hawks have representatives in the Home International at Ipswich on Saturday while the first team face a tough Sunday – away matches at Ipswich (a.m.) and Great Blakenham (p.m.).
