MATCH REPORT: Manchester league Under 13 & Under 19 Finals
Bury hosted the first of the three Manchester League Individual Finals evenings, at Goshen on Wednesday. The track was damp and firm, on a cool evening.
In the u-13s match, Astley & Tyldesley’s Tom Morrissey reeled off three race wins, after losing to team mate Charlie Burgess first time out, to take the
title with 15 points. Charlie pulled off a great last lap overtake of Stockport’s Ewan Ferreira in the last race, to finish on 13 points and secure 2nd place
overall, with Ewan third.
Tom Morrissey was also presented with the trophy for winning the u-13 Grand Prix series.

Tom Morrissey (A&T) 15, Charlie Burgess (A&T) 13, Ewan Ferreira (Stockport) 11, Duncan Whalley (A&T) 7, Tom Dunphy (Bury) 4.
Referee – Matthew Turnbull.
Bury’s Adam Turnbull overcame a gate exclusion in heat 2, to win the u-19s title, by winning his other three races. There was a close battle for the minor placings, with Stockport’s Louis Wright finishing 2nd overall. He held off a determined challenge from Bury’s Harry Radford, who came down after clashing with Louis on the last bend of the last race.

The Open and Women’s Finals take place at Astley & Tyldesley next Wednesday (28th August) 7 pm start.
