MATCH REPORT: Manchester league Women’s & Senior Individuals

Astley & Tyldesley staged the second of the Manchester League Individual Finals evenings on a cool, damp evening on Wednesday.

First up was the inaugural Women’s Individual. Unfortunately, there were riders missing due to holidays, as Emily Burgess took the expected victory, with an untroubled 16 points maximum. The new winner’s trophy was donated by National and Regional Chair, Mike Hack. Emily also received a trophy for winning the Women’s Grand Prix series.

Manchester League Women’s Individual Final result:

Emily Burgess (A&T) 16, Lucy Grantham (A&T) 12.

The Senior Individual Final followed, comprising 9 riders over 12 heats. Stockport’s Jake Read took the win, with a 16 points maximum score. His wins over Reece Pollitt from inside gate in heat 4 and from outside gate over Ben Higham in heat 9 proved to be significant. Last year’s winner Pollitt dropped just the one point, to finish runner-up, with Higham third, after losing from the outside grid to Pollitt in heat 1. Higham sealed third place with a win from the inside over Louis Wright and Kris Ramsden in heat 12. Fastest time of the night was 41.92 seconds, by Reece Pollitt in heat 7. Jake also received a trophy for winning the Senior Grand Prix series.

Jake Read (Stockport) 16, Reece Pollitt (A&T) 15, Ben Higham (Stockport) 14, Louis Wright (Stockport) 13, Kris Ramsden (Bury) 12, Emily Burgess (A&T) 11, Mark Grantham (A&T) 10, Charlie Burgess (A&T) 9, Mick Knowles (A&T) 2.

The re-arranged u-10 and u-16 Individual Finals take place at Stockport next Wednesday, 7 pm start.
