CLUB NEWS: Norwich Stars round-up

Wednesday September 8th saw the 6th round of the Norfolk Go-Ride and Senior Grand prix series take place at Hethersett. In the Under 10’s event Stanley Budds and Zackery Eastwood represented Norwich with Stanley taking 3rd place in the A Final and Zackery winning the B Final

Connor Jarrett and Tabby Nierop rode in the Under 13’s event with Connor winning the A Final and Tabby finishing 4th. This result means Connor has clinched the Under 13 category as riders count their best 6 rounds out of the 8

Shaun Kell rode in the Under 16’s event and finished 3rd in the A Final whilst in the Senior event series leader Jamie Medler, who came into this round having not won any of the previous rounds, recorded his first win of the series in the A Final with a superb pass on Ben Loombe who had won all of his qualifying races. Rory freeman also made the A Final where he finished 4th whilst Tom Blackmore was 2nd in the B Final

The following week was Round 7 at Harford Park and the Under 10’s saw Zackery and Stanley represent Norwich with Zackery taking the win in the A Final which wraps up the championship for him. Stanley finished 3rd in the A Final.

The Under 13’s event saw Connor take his 7th A Final win out of 7 whilst Tabby picked up 3rd place in the A Final. Shaun rode in the Under 16;s event and was runner-up in the A Final. The Senior event saw Jamie, Tom, Rory and Paddy Wenn take part. Jamie & Tom finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the A Final whilst Paddy finished runner-up in the B inal and Rory won the C Final

The British Youth & Junior League had its one and only National Round on Saturday 18th at East Park, Wolverhampton and saw Connor, Tom & Shaun all representing Norwich as well as Will Blackmore. Connor finished as runner-up in the A Final of the Under 10’s whilst Will finished as runner-up in the B Final of the Under 12’s which placed him 6th overall. Shaun matched Will’s result in the Under 14’s event and was unlucky not to qualify for the A Final having slipped off whilst leading a run-off. Tom rode in the Under 18’s event and finished 4th.

Norwich had 4 riders racing in the hethersett Charity Cup the following day. Lee Grange finished 3rd with 17 points after winning a run-off against former Norwich rider Owen Wells. Paddy finished 7th on 13 points with Jamie 10th on 11 and Rory 16th with 5 points. Rory was judged as the Most Entertaining Rider, receiving the Colin Chamberlain Memorial Trophy for his efforts. Meanwhile at Wednesfield Tom was part of the winning South-East team for the Battle of Britain Junior match.

Several Norwich riders are expected to be at the final round of the Norfolk Go-Ride & Senior Grand Prix Series at Hethersett tomorrow (Wednesday 22nd) whilst the next team action for the Stars is this coming Sunday 26th when Kesgrave are the visitors in the South-East League and there will be a Youth League nmatch also. The action starts at 10.30am
