WEEKEND PREVIEW: Wednesfield’s 60th Anniversary and more regional racing
A busy weekend of Cycle Speedway starts on Saturday with the first day of Wednesfield’s 60th Anniversary celebrations. The action starts at 11am with an Under 14’s Individual, followed at 12.30 by a Junior Individual. The Veterans take to the track at 2pm and the day is rounded off with a match between a Wednesfield Select and an England Select at 4pm
Sunday sees day 2 of Wednesfield’s 60th Anniversary celebrations continue with a Best Pairs event at 11am, followed by a Women’s Individual at 1.30pm and the celebration weekend racing wise concludes with an Open Individual at 3.30pm
There is also regional racing with the North & Scotland region being the busiest with matches at Hull, Astley & Tyldesley & Bury. The latter 2 tracks have a double header of racing as Fife and Edinburgh will provide the opposition. Edinburgh are the first visitors to Gin Pit at midday with the match against Fife following at 3pm. Fife will be Bury’s first opponents at midday with the match against Edinburgh following at 3pm. Meanwhile Hull welcome the reigning North & Scotland League Division 1 champions Sheffield to the Hessle Raceway. The Division 3 match starts at 1pm, the Division 1 match at 2pm and the Division 2 match at 3.30pm.
There are also matches in the South & South Wales League as Poole cross the Severn Bridge to face Newport whilst Exeter welcome Horspath to the Wheels Centre
In the South East League Great Blakenham will be the busiest team as they face 4 matches against Kesgrave with 2 Youth League matches as well as a Division 1 and a Division 2 match. There is also Division 2 & Youth League action at Hellingly where Ipswich are the visitors plus there is a Norfolk derby as Norwich welcome Hethersett to Eaton Park
