MATCH REPORT: Welsh Women’s Open
Newport CSC was the setting for this years Welsh Women’s open, after a few years out due to the pandemic.
The meeting format had to be changed due to a few injuries, but the meeting produced some excellent racing on a rain effected surface, which rode really well. The 12 heat qualifying meeting saw the top 8 proceed to 2 semi finals.
Nataleigh Goulden, Elizabeth Rigley, Emily Burgess and Lucy Whitehead were the finalists to contest the silverware. Rigley sped from the tapes and led for 3 laps ,looking very strong on the big welsh circuit ,but Burgess pulled a great line on 4th bend 3rd lap and drove inside Rigley and both ended up on the grass, but it was Burgess who came out on top as Rigley fell, leaving Whitehead and Goulden to overtake and Burgess to record her 3rd welsh title on the spin after some great racing.
