MATCH REPORT: Hull overcome Fife in last heat decider
Hull travelled to Dunfermline to race Fife in the North & Scotland Division One on a cool and showery day. Both clubs included a rider on secondary licence from Edinburgh with Jake Slight riding for the home side and Jason Keith making his debut for Hull.
A very equal match started with a 6-4 for Hull’s Lewis Foxley / Jason Keith before Fife replied with a 6-4 for Lewis Alsop / Victor Hill. Three drawn heats followed and this was to be the pattern of the match with never more than two points separating the sides. Heat six saw a 6-4 for Nathan Everett / Matt Eglen for Hull before a similar result from The Revolutions Kayden Davidson / Harris Alsop followed by another shared heat gave an interval score of 40 each.
Heat 11 gave Hull the lead back with a Lewis Foxley / Jason Keith 6-4 before 6-4’s to the home side from Jake Slight / Harry Langdale and Lewis and Harris Alsop gave Fife the lead for the first time. The following heat 15 saw Lewis Foxley / Nathan Everett take the meetings only 7-3 to establish a two pint lead going into the nominated races. The first two races were drawn and the match looked to be heading for a drawn result in the final heat as Jake Slight raced away from Nathan Everett but an attempt by Lewis Alsop to clinch both points for the home side allowed Nathan to team ride Matt Eglen through for a drawn heat and two league points.
Fife had a strong line-up with Jake Slight, Lewis Alsop and Kayden Davidson impressing. Hull’s Lewis Foxley scored an excellent paid maximum with Nathan Everett and Jack Lister in good form and Jason Keith fitting in well to the side. A very sporting fixture well refereed by Gavin Kennedy was just edged with a little extra experience from the visitors.
