CLUB NEWS: Norwich Stars-The month of October so far

Jamie Medler was the only Norwich rider to take part in the final round of the Norfolk Grand Prix for Under 16/Girls/Senior riders at Harford Park on Wednesday October 5th and he finished 4th in the Senior event which was enough to give him 3rd place overall on 77 points. The Overall positions for Norwich riders across all of these Norfolk GP’s are listed below:

Seniors
Shaun Kell 4th equal,49 points (tied with hethersett’s David Martin)
Tom Blackmore 6th equal, 36 points (tied with Hethersett’s Harley Hamill)
Rory Freeman 8th, 26 points
McKenzie Loombe 9th, 14 points (tied with Hethersett’s George Larter-Dixon)

Under 16’s
Will Blackmore 4th, 20 points

Girls
Josie Kell 5th, 20 points

Saturday 8th October saw Norwich riders in action at both Kesgrave and Birmingham. At Kesgrave it was the final round of the South-East Grand Prix. 3 Norwich riders took part and the Under 10’s saw Frank Spauls finish 4th in the Under 10’s A Final which was good enough to give him 2nd overall on 124 points. In the Under 12’s saw Will Blackmore win the B Final to give him 4th overall on 111 points whilst in the Under 14’s Shaun was 2nd in the A Final and he won the competition overall on 136 points. The Overall positions for Norwich riders who were not at Kesgrave are listed below:

Under 12’s
Zachary Eastwood 8th, 65 points

Under 18’s
Tom 1st, 60 points

Senior
Jamie 7th, 41 points
Tom 14th, 13 points

Girls
Josie 4th, 52 points

Over 40’s
Paddy Wenn 5th, 80 points
Steve Copping 8th, 25 points
Rory Freeman also rode during the course of the competition but his overall position and points were not known at the time of writing

Paddy & Steve were not at Kesgrave as it was the final round of the EuroVets at Birmingham. Steve scored 11 points in the Over 35/Over 40’s qualifying heats which wasn’t enough to get him into the Over 35’s finals but he did qualify for the Over 40’s B Final where he finished 3rd. Overall Steve finish tied for 8th place in the Over 35’s with 51 points and 8th on his own in the Over 40’s with 63 points. Paddy scored 15 points in the Over 50’s/Over 60’s qualifying heats and he qualified for the Over 50’s B Final which he won to give him 3rd place overall on 128 points

The following day saw the Hethersett Charity Cup take place and 6 Norwich riders took part. Their scores are listed below:

David Adams 6th=, 14 points (along with Ipswich’s Owen Wells)
Tom and Shaun 8th=, 13 points each
Paddy 10th=, 12 points (along with Hethersett’s Mason martin)
Dave Blackmore 16th, 3 points

This coming Sunday (16th October) the Stars conclude their South-East league fixtures with Kesgrave providing the opposition at Eaton Park in re-arranged matches which were postponed in April due to rider unavailability within the Kesgrave camp. There are matches in the Youth League (which will be against Kesgrave Pumas) as well as Divisions 1 and 2. The Youth League match is scheduled to start at 1pm, the Division 1 match is scheduled for 2pm and the Division 2 match is set for a 3.30pm start.

Norwich are hoping to stage their Club Championships on Saturday 22nd October but this hadn’t been confirmed at the time of writing
