WOMEN’S LEAGUE: SSW team announced for Round 1

The Women’s League gets underway for 2024 on Sunday April 21st with the opening round being staged at Ipswich. South & South Wales team manager Rachel Lammin has announced the team that will begin the defence of the title they have won for the last 2 seasons:

“The start of the womens league is fast approaching so therefore I would like to confirm my plans for the 2024 season. My aim is to involve/encourage more girls from the S&SW region to take part in this event, I am looking at the future of our sport and women’s racing whilst remaining at a competitive level. Our team will be rotated between riders to enable all the girls to compete in at least one round. Please remember if you are not in the team, you can still do the individual event (I will always really encourage this). As always the team may change if we have any of the riders last minute unavailability.

“For the S&SW our team that will be representing in round 1 will be –

“Captained by Lauren Hookway a Former British indoor & Outdoor Champion plus former European Champion. Lauren comes with heaps of experience to pass on to the younger riders.

“Joining Lauren we have a Former regional Champion and reigning women’s British team champion with multiple British individual caps – Shannon Tucker.

“England and GB racer in Australia 2023, 3rd in the World at U16 level and a women’s world finalists, former British champion – It’s Nat Goulden!

“Making her debut to the Women’s Regional league is the Current Welsh U16 Women’s Champion. We are excited to have her join round 1, it’s Ellie George!

“Also making her debut, we have another British club championship winner, 3rd in the 2023 regional Grand Prix series and multiple British championship caps – Millie Shear

“Lastly, we will have our Current British Champion and European number 2. She is no stranger to the podium places and no stranger to this team, it’s Maddie Saundersssss!

“We look forward to the challenge as current champions two years running.”
