WEEKEND PREVIEW: Another Busy weekend of racing coming up
Another busy weekend of Cycle Speedway action gets underway tomorrow (Saturday 7th September) with the Welsh Riders Championships at Newport starting at midday. At the same time Round 6 of the South-East Grand Prix will be getting underway at East London. Also on Saturday the Manchester League Individuals will be staged at Bury.
Moving on to Sunday and there is action in all 4 regions plus a match in the National League and that is where our preview for Sunday starts as Ipswich travel to Poole knowing only a victory will continue their 2024 title challenge. Poole still have a realistic chance of becoming champions but a loss to Ipswich will severely dent their ability to catch Birmingham, who top the table.
The North & Scotland League sees Astley & Tyldesley welcome Bury to Gin Pit for matches in Divisions 1,2 and 3. The Division 3 match will open proceedings at 1pm followed by the Division 1 match at 2pm and the Division 2 match at 3.35pm. Sheffield have a busy day of racing at the Graves Tennis Centre as Round 9 of their Go-Ride series starts at 11am which is followed by matches in Divisions 2 and 3 of the North & Scotland League against Heckmondwike. Fife were scheduled to take on Hull in a Division 1 match at the FastBowl but due to rider unavailibility for Hull that match has been postponed until later in the season
There is just 1 match in the Midland League and that sees Wednesfield take on Birmingham at Ashmore Park.
Moving on to the South-East region and Kesgrave have a busy day in Norfolk as both of their Division 2 teams will be in action at Norwich & Hethersett. The Panthers are up first at Norwich at 11.30am before moving on to Hethersett for a 2pm start. The Pumas will also be in action at Hethersett (11am) and then at Norwich, starting at 2pm. Hethersett and Kesgrave will stage a Youth League match in between their 2 SE2 matches Meanwhile Hellingly were due to welcome Great Blakenham to Lower Dicker for Division 2 and Youth League matches but due to rider unavailabiity for Great Blakenham these matches have been postponed.
The South & South Wales League has matches in Division 1 and the Development League with Horspath making the trip to Southampton whilst there is a Newport derby at the track next to the Wales National Velodrome
