TRANSFER NEWS: 2 former Hammers expected to rejoin club
There has been some activity in the transfer market during the close season so far with several riders expected to be racing for differentt clubs in 2025. All transfers mentioned below are subject to ratification by British Cycling
Horspath are expected to welcome back 2 riders wh started their careers with the Oxford club. 2015 British Champion and current England & Great Britain Junior Team Manager Zac Payne returns after a spell at Kesgrave whilst Will Jeffery, an England & Great Britain International at Junior & Senior level, rejoins the club after a spell at Birmingham. The Hammers are also expected to welcome Sean Bennett to the club from East Newport. With these signings joining their current Senior riders Horspath will be competing in the National League in 2025 as well as the South & South Wales League Division 1 & 2. It is expected that Bennett will race in National League matches only for the Hammers whilst still racing for East Newport in regional matches. Meanwhile Steven Beesley has left Horspath and is expecting to be racing for East Newport in 2025
Newport have announced that Adam Bennett, a former Welsh Open Champion and regular Welsh International rider, has rejoined the club for 2025. On Facebook’s ” I was (or still am) a Cycle Sppedway rider !!!” Adam said “The strength of the riders within the Newport club will help me develop more as a rider in preparation for the new season in the league and World Championships. Hopefully I can help Newport have a successful season while celebrating the club’s 50th anniversary year”
After a spell out of the saddle former British number 3 Mark Carmichael will return to the track in 2025 in the colours of Exeter whilst 2024 British Indoor & Outdoor Womens Champion Maddie Saunders is expected to join Southampton on a full transfer having ridden on loan for the Saints for the last 2 seasons
