Following the unexpected reversal at Newport the previous weekend the Poole / Fantasy Floors Comets approached their opening home fixture in a determined mood which visitors Exeter soon realised.
Polish International Greg Gluchowski and partner Josh Nottle gave the Comets a first heat advantage followed by a maximum score from Teddy Curtis and Ferose Langoo but then Mark Carmichael gained his first of four heat wins during the afternoon. Although Jamie Randall and Oliver Saunders scored a vital maximum in heat six the visitors were able to restrict the margin to ten points at the interval stage. There then followed a series of drawn heats with Carmichael and Conner Tucker taking major wins but the deadlock was ceased when Aaron Laing with partner Langoo made the meeting safe for Poole. The home side fully deserved their success but Exeter are to be applauded for a spirited performance with all giving 100% effort.
