The Hull Cycle Speedway Club staged their club presentation and social night at The Hessle Tom Hall last Friday night. A good turnout of about 50 club members and supporters celebrated their achievements over the most successful season for many years. These included a British under 12 club championship (Ellwood Harrison / Sophia Temple), British under 16 club runner-up (Noah Lyon / Harry Gibson), British under 14 club third place (Harry Gibson / Ellwood Harrison), British under 16 Individual runner-up for Noah Lyon and British under 14 third place for Harry Gibson. All the clubs riders received a memento and North & Scotland Division Three team riders and Northern Grand Prix team riders received trophies for winning these competitions.
The Presidents shield for the ‘most improved junior rider’ went to Ellwood Harrison with Noah Lyon winning the Committee’s Choice shield for ‘most improved senior rider’ and Liz Gibson was awarded the club member of the year trophy voted for by the club members. Gifts were also presented to Harry Gibson for winning the open club GP and Jack Lister for his help with coaching sessions. Noah Lyon was presented with a framed shirt, procured by his dad Jez, by Andy Schofield and Barry Ashton to commemorate his England Junior Team debut versus Australia in the Federations Cup. Thanks to Graham Lush for rushing across with the GP trophies after a last minute delivery problem and to all the great volunteers at Hull for organising and running the event.
