MATCH REPORT: Lush wins Manchester Final
Bury hosted the final Manchester League event of the season, the Senior Individual Final, on Wednesday evening.
Home rider Ben Scranage got off to a winning start, by beating Terry Norman in heat 1. However, his chances of winning the title went, when he was involved in a nasty crash at the first bend in heat 6. He took no further part in the match and went to hospital, after sustaining an ankle injury. This let in the Stockport riders to dominate the match and they ended up taking the top six places. Chris Eaton won the re-run of heat 6, inflicting the only defeat of the night on Jack Lush, who finished with a total of 19 points and took the title.
Jake Read beat Ben Higham in a run-off for 2nd place, after both riders had finished on 18 points. Mat Lush’s chances of a top three place disappeared when he was excluded for moving on gate 1 in his last race, when up against Read. Kristian Ramsden suffered machine failures in his opening two rides, before bouncing back to score an impressive 11 points from his last three outings.
