NEWS: Outcomes of the British Cycling Cycle Speedway Commission meeting

Here are the outcomes for the British Cycling Cycle Speedway Commission meeting that took place on Saturday 25th October 2014.

Governance

The Commission continues to work towards a more effective strategy of operation.

World Championships

Over 40’s to be run on one day (7th August). Proposal to change the date the World Cup Qualifier for Non Seeded Nations to be put to the ICSF.

Individual Championships

All to be run over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

Elite League

To consist of the same six clubs as in 2014. No other expressions of interest from other clubs received.

Coaching and Development

Of real concern is the apparent lack of priority to the content of club nights and activities for all by many clubs.

Women’s League 2014

proved very encouraging in terms of participation numbers. 2015 programming is already underway.

British Youth and Junior League

Rule Changes will mean that any rider who has competed in at least two Regional Rounds may compete in the National GP Series finals and that Points will not be carried forward from the Regional rounds to the final. Top end age group for males will now include riders who are 18 or under in the year of the competition.

National BYJL Co-Ordinator for 2015 will be Ross Mee.

Calendar/General

From 2015 Levies to be paid by host clubs via the on line event registration system. 2015 Major Events Calendar has been drawn up and will be circulated to all shortly.

Wilkinson Sword Nominations were voted on by Commission Members. Result to be made public when award is presented.

Referees Regional Training Course to be held in Northumbria. Date to be advised. Both Northern and Referees from other Regions are welcome to attend.

National Conferences to be held in Manchester and Bristol or Hillingdon.

Indoor Championships

Planning well under way. Entries close 3rd December.
