NEWS: Veteran star Timms set to miss Indoor finals – again

Birmingham Monarchs veteran star Paul Timms (pictured leading) is set to miss this years British Indoor Finals in Coventry in early January through injury – for the second successive year.

Last year, Timms crashed heavily in indoor training and missed the finals. It was a major blow to the genial Brummie racer, who has dominated the TLI Cycling hosted Eurovets GP Over 50s series this year.

Now, a spectacular fall whilst BMX racing has injured the popular Timms. After hospital treatment, he is off work and resting at home with damaged knee ligament and tendon damage. He managed to make it to spectate at both the Cheslyn Hay and Coventry indoor sessions last Sunday, where he was in obvious discomfort.

Timms, a former British Indoor champion, said: “I am devastated to be injured again just before the Indoor finals. Unless I have a miracle recovery, I shall have to sit it out and concentrate on getting fit for the new outdoor season in March”.

The British Indoor finals will go-ahead at the Sports Connexion, Coventry on Saturday 3rd January and Sunday 4th January 2015. Entries are open now at: www.britishcycling.org.uk

The official hotel of the British Indoor finals is the The Village Hotel, Coventry. Following high booking levels, organisers have increased Cycle Speedway capacity for the Indoor finals and plenty of discounted rooms (at £50 per room) are now available.
