RESULTS: British Individual Championships Day 1

Here are the results from Day 1 of the 2023 British Individual Championships:

The Panthers provided three of the four championship title winners, and for good measure Zac Payne won the senior Qualifier.

British Under 12 Boys Individual Championship

British Under 14 Boys Individual Championship

The under 14 boys Final produced some top level racing, as the riders adjusted to the pacy Cookson track (many of whom were making their first visit).

The racing heated up towards the end of the meeting.  Three unbeaten riders,  Luca Woodhouse,  Harvey Shumake and Frank White met in heat 15, the winner of which would likely be lifting the trophy. Woodhouse won comfortably from Shumake and White. Shumake won his final race (a heat 18 victory over Jude Wilcockson) to finish on 19 points. Woodhouse now needed to win his final race to secure the championship.  Though he made the gate, he slipped from first place to third (only a three rider race) on the exit of turn one. Teddy Curtis gleefully accepting the gift of the lead from the mistake.  Woodhouse got back in to second place,  but then fell entering turn one of the last lap as he tried an inside pass in this eventful heat 18. Woodhouse dusted himself down (he was actually the only faller in 80 heats of racing on the day) to win the silver/bronze run off over Jude Wilcockson.

Harvey Shumake (Kesgrave) 19, Luca Woodhouse (Kesgrave) 18*, Jude Wilcockson (Coventry) 18*, Frank White (Astley & Tyldesley) 17, Noah Lyon (Hull) 16, Teddy Curtis (Poole) 16, Oliver Banyard (Sheffield) 14, Isaac Powling (Kesgrave) 11, Mitchell Baker (Ipswich) 11, Harvey McLachlan (Hull) 10, Dylan Geer (Hellingly) 10, Charlie Spurgeon (Kesgrave) 10, Connor Jarrett (Keagrave) 8, Jayden Hancock (Bury) non starter, Luie Lewis (Newport) non starter
