NEWS: Five figure grant from council boosts Poole

There has been a positive hive of activity down at Harbourside on and off the track as the countdown to the start of the season gathers momentum. Thanks to a five figure sum from the local Council, a veritable shopping list of improvement projects is well under way.

With work on the track completed and the new kitchen up and running, a new access stairway to the gym is in progress along with alterations to extend the bike storage area. Meanwhile attention outside will shortly turn to track lighting with a new LED based system due to be installed in the next few weeks.

An ambitious training programme kicked off on March 1st with a total of five sessions during the first week attracting around 100 attendances. Added attraction for the first Sunday morning junior session, was the breakfast menu being served up in the new kitchen which proved so popular that extra supplies had to be hastily arranged. Equally popular with riders is the new track surface which has settled in remarkably quickly after unavoidable delays to the re-laying schedule.

With two teams lining up in the South West league this year the club is focussing on increasing opportunities for some of its younger emerging talent, while stability is the catchword for the Elite League squad which is unchanged from 2014.

The club will be staging a press and practise evening on March 26th (7.30) when the doors will be thrown open to welcome guests drawn from a growing list of commercial backers along with local authority and civic dignitaries who will be able to see at first hand the progress that the community based club has been making.
