EUROVETS: Winwood, Lawrence and Kirkup victorious in round 7
The Eurovets series reached round 7 in Edinburgh on Saturday and the riders were greeted by kind weather with sun and blue skies.
Birmingham riders dominated the qualifiers, with Mark Winwood racing to a maximum in the over 40s whilst Steve Hodgkinson matched that score in the over 50s. Winwood finished his day off with another A final win, whilst Hodgkinson had to play second fiddle to new British over 50s champion and local hero Lee Lawrence. In the over 60s it was Northumbrian Terry Kirkup that took victory.
40s A final – Winwood 25, Paddy Wenn 23, Martyn Hollebon 22, Norman Venson 21.
50s A final – Lawrence 25, Hodgkinson 23, Joe McLaughlin 22, Terry Kirkup 21.
60s A final – Kirkup 25, Mick Aris 23, Fred Rothwell 22, Jim Graham 21.
