NEWS: Coventry party attracts record attendance

Nearly 100 revellers – a new record for the club – attended the Coventry CSC end of season Presentation Party at The Craftsman Public House in the Godiva city on Friday evening.

Riders, parents, volunteers, former members and officials of the thriving Coventry club partied to the early hours after Guest of Honour, international sporting star Rory Schlein, had presented the awards.

The Australia Speedway star presented himself impeccably to the audience. Smart, embracing and articulate, he engagingly made awards to nearly 40 riders and officials.

The major four awards all deservedly went to relatively new members – which is seen by the club as further vindication of their successful policy of seamlessly embracing new recruits. The event compere, Lee Marsh, made an excellent job of reviewing the racing year.

Earlsdon Hammers received trophies as the “Cycle Coventry” sponsored Coventry Junior League champions, whilst the clubs Midland Junior League team, pipped on race points for the league championship, were also acknowledged.

There was a nice touch at the end when Kyle Roberts told the audience he hopes to fit as many Cycle Speedway matches in around his (motor) Speedway commitments next year, before chairman Dave Foster summed up another outstandingly successful year for the club.

The next key date on the Coventry winter social calendar is their Christmas Party, set for Saturday 11th December at a fashionable Earlsdon restaurant.
