MATCH REPORT: Another win for A&T

Astley & Tyldesley came away with another clean sweep of wins in their Northern and Scotland League meeting at Hull on Sunday.

With A&T having riders missing, they were made to fight all the way in the Division 1 match by the Hull side, before emerging narrow 88-85 winners.

The lead changed hands four times early on, before A&T recorded four successive heat wins, to hold a 47-38 lead at the interval.

Back came Hull, with two successive heat wins to reduce the gap to 3 points after heat 11. A&T responded with three successive heat wins, to move into a 10 points lead with four races remaining. Hull won the next two heats, but a shared heat in the penultimate race kept A&T’s lead at 7 points.

A last heat 7-3 heat win to Hull was merely a consolation, as A&T held on to win the match, 88-85.

Three times British Champion Andy Angell raced unbeaten for Hull, but it was a more solid scoring A&T team that took the spoils, with Paul Graham, Max Evans and Reece Pollitt heading the scoring and receiving good back up.
