MATCH REPORT: Burgess and Pollitt take home Manchester League titles
Stockport hosted the second of the Manchester League Individual Finals evenings on Wednesday.
Seven riders contested the under 13 event, which went to a decider in heat 11. The unbeaten Astley & Tyldesley pair of Emily Burgess and John White lined up on grids 1 and 2. Emily was the quickest away from the tapes and she pulled away to take the win, with John second.
There was a three rider run-off for third place. Bury’s Josh Neath led from the tapes, but he was passed by his teammate Harry Radford and by A&T’s birthday boy Charlie Burgess. Harry held off a strong challenge from Charlie to secure 3rd place overall on the night.

Just four riders contested the under 19 championship. A&T’s Reece Pollitt pulled out some fast gates and fast rides to win the first three races, to clinch the title before his last race.
Stockport’s Michael Preston took the win in the last race to secure 2nd place overall. In a run-off for 3rd place, Sheffield’s Adam Watson held off the challenge of home rider Devon Campbell to take the win. Reece’s victory means that he has retained the Under 19 title he won last year.
