CLUB NEWS: Mixed fortunes for Stars in British Club Championships

Norwich riders had mixed results in the British Club Championships which were staged at Great Blakenham and Ipswich on the weekend of 3rd & 4th July. The Under 14’s event was the first event on the Saturday at Great Blakenham and saw Shaun Kell & Will Blackmore clinch the runners-up spot with 34 points. Shaun scored 21 of those points with Will scoring 13.
The next event to involve Norwich was the Under 12’s event and this was staged in a heavy downpour but the riders stuck to their task in awful conditions. Connor Jarrett & Zackery Eastwood were the Norwich representatives and they finished 3rd with 19 points, Connor scoring 12 and Zackery 7
The following day the action moved to Ipswich where the first event was for the Under 10’s and Norwich, through Connor Jarrett & Frank Spauls, emerged as the winners with 32 points after Connor defeated Kesgrave Panthers’ Demi-Blu Harris in a run-off. Connor scored 17 of Norwich’s points, being undefeated by an opponent throughout the match whilst Frank scored 15.
Norwich’s involvement in the Club Championships concluded with the Over 40’s event where Lee grange, Paddy Wenn & Gary Colby carried the Stars’ colours to 5th place with 27 points (Lee 15, Paddy 10, Gary 2) .
On Saturday 10th July several Norwich riders are expected to be at Great Blakenham for the 3rd round of the British Youth & Junior League which doubles up as Round 3 of the South-East Grand Prix series whilst the following day will see South-East League action at Eaton Park for the 1st time since 2019 when the Stars welcome Norfolk rivals Hethersett. The main league match gets underway at 2pm with a South-East Youth League match following afterwards
