MATCH REPORT: Manchester League Round 1

Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 1 of the 2023 Manchester League series at Gin Pit on Wednesday evening.

Turn outs were down on previous years for the Division 2 (age category) matches, but there was a decent turn out of 11 riders for the Division 1 (seniors and veterans match). No women riders entered on the night.

Bury only fielded three riders in the Division 2 match, but all three rode to maximum scores – Bobby Dunphy (u-10), Jayden Hancock (u-13), Tom Dunphy (u-16). Owen Simcock of A&T had his score adjusted to 16, by virtue of being the only u-19 rider present. Defending champions Astley & Tyldesley took the team win on the night.

In contrast to the Division 2 match, Bury fielded seven riders in the Division 1 match, with Reece Pollitt posting a maximum score. Team mate Mike Baldock dropped his only point to Sheffield’s Ed Morton in heat 7. Bury ran out easy winners in the team competition on the night.
