CLUB NEWS: A busy weekend for Stars riders

Norwich Stars riders saw action on both Saturday & Sunday 10th & 11th July. The Saturday action was at Great Blakenham where it was the 3rd British Youth & Junior League South-East Regional round which also counted as the 3rd round of the South-East Grand Prix Series. 3 riders lined up in the Under 10’s event, Connor Jarrett finishing 2nd in the A Final with Frank Spauls & Kenny Culling finishing 3rd & 4th respectively in the B Final. In the Under 12’s event Will Blackmore won the C Final, a result that was matched by Jamie Medler in the Senior event. Shaun Kell represented Norwich in the Under 14’s event and finished 3rd in the A Final. Tom Blackmore was the only Under 18 rider present so he was automatically awarded the Under 18 points for the win but raced with the Seniors. The Over 40’s category saw Steve Copping reach the A Final where he finished 4th. The Overall standings as far as Norwich riders are concerned are listed below:

Sunday saw the Stars return to league racing for the first time in almost 2 years and they started their campaign with a Norfolk derby against Hethersett at Eaton Park. The main league match was first and saw Norwich emerge victorious by 82 points to 78. Lee Grange was the top scorer, dropping 2 points from 6 rides.

The Youth League match followed and this saw another win for Norwich by 74 points to 56. Will Blackmore was the top scorer, dropping only 1 point from his 4 races

Norwich are next in League action this coming Sunday (July 18th) away at Kesgrave where the 1st team match starts at 2pm with the Youth League match following at approximately 3.30pm The Norfolk League Junior match at Hethersett which was postponed on Sunday June 20th will now take place on Sunday 25th July at 2pm

Saturday July 31st will see the Home Internationals take place at Astley & Tyldesey and 3 Norwich riders will definitely be involved. The Over 40’s event will see Steve Copping & Dave Blackmore representing Ireland whilst Tom Blackmore will be lining up for Scotland in the Junior event. Subject to being able to get the time off work Gary Colby will also represent ireland in the Over 40’s event
