BATTLE OF BRITAIN: New look for 2023

South & South Wales Battle of Britain manager Matt Davis has sent in the following regarding this year’s Battle of Britain:

This year’s Battle of Britian has been given a new look with last years campaign not being fully supported for a number of reasons.

This new look to the competition is to provide the best riders within a region to be paired up together to represent their region in what is now a one off event instead of 4 regional rounds throughout the year.

Another change to the event will now see both the Junior and Senior Teams race on the same day at the same location. On the same weekend as the Home International.

With these changes now in place this should make the competition more exciting and enjoyable for all to see, and with the S&SW region current champions defending there crown with current manager Matt Davis on home soil he is confident of the challenge ahead.

I know East Newport will put on a good show and provide a quality racing track.

With that in mind this year’s Battle of Britain is being staged on Sunday 4th June at the Home of East Newport CSC. NP18 2EW
( Track is located next to the football pitch )

The schedule of both matches is as follows

Junior’s – 1pm Seniors – 3pm

There are a number of hotels located between both Newport tracks and Matt Davis has provided details of just a few which are all a 5/10 minute drive away from each track for those who are stopping over night.

Premier Inn, Newport, (M4, J24) NP18 2NX
(Next to the Beefeater & McDonald’s )

Holiday Inn Hotel, The Coldra, Newport, NP18 2YG

New Inn Motel
Chepstow Rd, Langstone, Newport NP18 2JN
( Next to the Green King Chain Pub )

Coldra Court Hotel ( Part of the famous Celtic Manor Resort )
Chepstow Rd, Langstone, Newport NP18 2LX

East Newport has had a transformation of its own in recent weeks with the installation of a New Safety Fence, New Water Supply, New Canteen and finally the expansion of the pits area. But sadly in recent weeks the club had to come to terms with the passing of one of its own the talented Dan Wright who will be sadly missed by everyone.

We look forward to welcoming you all to the polo in what will be a very good day of top quality racing and to sign off a good weekend of cycle speedway action.
