WEEKEND PREVIEW: Women’s Battle of Britain plus some regional racing
The weekend’s Cycle Speedway action kicks off on Saturday with Round 3 of the EuroVets at East Park which will also feature a Women’s competition. Fred Rothwell has released the following statement in Facebook’s “EuroVets Short Track (Cycle Speedway) Racing” page:
“Signs are we may have more than the initial 5 women we saw at East London. That in mind we are looking for a 12 noon start for the separate women’s event, with the usual veterans Eurovet event following after the completion of the women’s racing……this should be around 1.15pm.
“However we have always managed our events to cater for the numbers that turn up, and again with that in mind, we will repeat what we did at East London if the Women’s numbers are slightly less than what we are anticipating…….the women still to ride in their own category, but the heats will be ‘among’ the Eurovet heats…….it certainly seemed to work at East London.”
Sunday sees Round 2 of the Women’s Battle of Britain and Grand Prix take place at Bury. The Midlands will be looking to mke it 2 wins out of 2 in the team event having taken the win last time out at Wednesfield whilst the Individual Grand Prixs saw the Kesgrave duo of Lily Parr and Demi-Blu Harris take the wins in the Expert and Intermediate classes respectively. The action at Goshen Sports Centre is scheduled to get underway at midday.
