As the Poole / Trent Comets squad were minus their heat leading duo of Aaron Smith and Kenzie Bennett it gave them a further opportunity to introduce younger riders into this level of racing. Although the opening pairing of Will Bristowe and Oliver Saunders took maximum points the visitors were able to contain the Comets lower order prior to the interval stage due mainly to the efforts of Ben Mould and Lee Galley.
However as racing resumed five maximum heat wins which featured the unbeaten Greg Gluchowski and Feroze Langoo saw the home side achieve a well deserved victory whilst Newport should be applauded for their ” never give up” approach. If there was a “man of the match” award then Teddy Curtis would be the favoured recipient as the reigning British U14 Individual champion displayed the reason he has a bright future in the sport.
