MATCH REPORT: Derek Hilton Memorial Trophy at Hull

Hull staged the fourth Derek Hilton Memorial meeting on a chilly day with Derek’s widow Anne presenting trophies to the competitors. The junior meeting began proceedings with Spencer Glenton racing unbeaten to take the under 13 title by one point from Harry Gibson. In the under 11’s category Ellwood Harrison continued his improved form taking the honours with 14 points from Jayden Bennett and Sophia Temple. Alexis Woodcock added to her weekend’s trophy haul by taking the under 9’s win.

In the senior event the open title was decided in heat 7 when Jack Lister attempted an inside pass on Lewis Foxley on the pits bend and fell bringing down the chasing Noah Lyon. This resulted in an exclusion with Lewis winning the re-run from Noah with both riders unbeaten in their other races and Rich Gibson taking third place with 13 points. Noah was a clear winner of the under 18’s meeting from youngsters Spencer Glenton and Harry Gibson with Kacey Bennett taking the women’s title.

Women: Kacey Bennett 10.
