Hull played hosts to Astley & Tyldesley in the North & Scotland League on a cool but mainly sunny day at The Hessle Raceway. The visitors were missing several regulars and this was shown particularly in Division 3 where Hull won the under 10’s by 40 points to 0 and the under 13’s by 59 points to 21. The win continues Hull’s unbeaten run in this league with Alexis Woodcock top scoring in the under 10’s and Ellwood Harrison unbeaten in the under 13’s while Riley Candy top scored for Astley & Tyldesley.

In Division 2 Hull scored a convincing 96 points to 49 win against a five man Astley & Tyldesley side who included club secretary Mike Hack in their side. Hull won every race except heat 10 that was won by the visitors top scorer Steve Harris who had good support from Paul Graham. The young Hull side all rode well with Noah Lyon and Spencer Glenton both unbeaten. In the division two match race holder Hull’s Harry Gibson was beaten by Astley & Tydesley’s Steve Harris who started quickly and held off the fast catching opponent to the line.

In the day’s final match Hull opened their Division 1 account with a 100 points to 80 win. The home side gradually built up a ten point interval lead thanks to five 6-4 heat wins. This was extended with a Ryan Tomkinson / Ellwood Harrison heat nine 7-3 before Paul Graham / Steve Harris took a heat 11 maximum for the visitors. Hull then extended their lead to 18 points, going into the nominated races, with three heat wins including a 7-3 in heat 14 for Spencer Glenton / Harry Gibson and wound up winners by 20 points. Noah Lyon was on sparkling form for Hull with a unbeaten 24 point total, while Jack Lister only dropped points due to a heat ten fall and they were well supported by all the team. John White was the pick of the Astley & Tyldesley side with Paul Graham and Terry Norman scoring consistently well. In the division one match race Astley & Tyldesley’s Jon White held off Hull’s Noah Lyon to retain the trophy.
