The weekend Cycle Speedway action kicks off tomorrow (Saturday) with the 3rd British Youth & Junior League National Round which will be staged at Hull satrting at 11am

Sunday sees the final round of the 2025 Women’s League hosted at Cookson Park, Sheffield which will be very crucial all round.
Starting the day will be the team event at 12pm. The Midlands are currently leading by 10 points and if they secure first or second this round, this could mean they take the title Women’s Battle of Britian series winners – a title that South West & Wales side have held for 5 consecutive years. Nevertheless, South East are in a position to not make this a comfortable win for the Midlands as they are currently standing on 8 points and they will have to fight hard to ensure they can secure 2nd place overall. A surprising battle for 3rd place stands between the North & Scotland and South West & Wales. Currently both on 6 points, this round will be vital as to who attains that last podium spot. The match promises to be a thrilling end to the team series, with little separating the teams on paper. With every heat looking to be critical, consistency will be a key factor these teams will need.

The individual event will follow at approximately 2:30pm. In the intermediate category, Lacey Ackroyd is currently leading with 60 points which is seeming to look as a set winner but can she hold her nerve for a final time? In 2nd place sits Maisy Baker, however she has Lola Martin breathing down her neck by only being 1 point down and could easy cause an upset on the podium seatings.
Running concurrently will be the Expert category. Yet again, this will see the ultimate battle between Lizzie Rigley and Lily Parr. Presently, 2024 Expert champion Lizzie is looking to retain her title and is sitting in 1st place with 57 points however Lily being only 2 points behind – if Lily plays her cards right, could she snip the title away? Nevertheless, Maddie Saunders also has the chance to cause a lot of upset as she currently sits in 3rd but a win could bring trouble the table.

Also on Sunday Horspath host Great Blakenham in the National League in what will be their final match for the season. If Horspath avoid defeat they will be the champions but victory for the Suffolk side would see them draw level on match points with the Hammers with the title possibly being decided on race points difference assuming Birmingham defeat Poole when they race their final match at Perry Hall Playing Fields (date to be confirmed).

Sunday is also scheduled to see the Derek Hilton Memorial Meeting at Hull and the final round of the Midland Flexi League at East Park
