Astley & Tyldesley Cycling Club held their 34th Annual Presentation and Social afternoon at Gin Pit on Sunday 14th December. 45 club members, family and friends were in attendance to enjoy the occasion and celebrate the year’s achievements. Participants enjoyed a buffet, racing footage on a large screen, presentations to riders and volunteers, raffle prizes and music. This year’s special guest was Mike Walmsley MBE, Deputy Lieutenant, who gave an inspiring speech and presented the awards to riders and volunteers. He was aided by Club Secretary Mike Hack, with World and British Women’s Champion Emily Burgess assisting by presenting the Volunteer awards as well.

The A&T Special Rider awards went to:
Most Improved Rider – Oscar Belt;
Best Novice (North West Trophy Cup) – James Jackson;
Best Newcomer (Rory Blackwell Cup) – Leighton Aird;
Young Rider of the Year (J. Fisher & Sons Cup) – Alex Lawless;
Rider of the Year (Alan Farrell Memorial Cup) – Emily Burgess.

24 awards were made to volunteers and officials, who have helped out at the club during 2025. The awards were supplemented by commemorative boxed badges in recognition of the club receiving the highly prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service last month. The Ron Hack Memorial Cup, for the Volunteer of the Year, was jointly presented to the husband and wife team of Volodymyr and Svitlana Rechembei. They have made a tremendous contribution to the club, since arriving from the war torn Ukraine in 2022 and initially speaking little English.
