Edinburgh Falcons Cycle Speedway Club posted the following tribute to Alan Hewitson on their Facebook page today:
“The Edinburgh Falcons were saddened to hear of the passing of former club member Alan Hewitson yesterday.
“Alan held various roles at the club as referee, team manager, program editor & even a rider on the rare occasion, but perhaps he’ll be best remembered from his videos on the Broadside Outcasts YouTube channel.
“Alan got involved with the then Scotia Allsorts when son Mikey was a rider, with Mikey going onto be the top rider at the club for many years, then when Mikey picked up Elite League & Scotland National team recognition, Alan & his video camera went along to catch all the action.
“Alan’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 29th July at 10:30am, Mortonhall Crematorium, Howden Hall Road, Edinburgh, EH16 6TX.
“A wake will be held at The Stables at Mortonhall, 50 Mortonhall Gate, Edinburgh, EH16 6TJ straight afterwards. Buffet provided.”
