MATCH REPORT: Stockport top of Northern Fours League
Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 4 of the Northern Fours & Junior League series at Gin Pit. On another very hot day, the track quickly dried out, despite plenty of heavy watering on several occasions. Despite this, there was plenty of good racing, with several quick times recorded.
Stockport raced to victory in the Fours League match, to take the lead at the top of the league table. Although Stockport led all match, they were pushed all the way by both Astley & Tyldesley and Bury Comets. Heckmondwike rode steadily to take 4th place, whilst Bury Meteors just pipped Hull to finish in 5th place. Jack Lush raced unbeaten for Stockport, with twin brother Matt losing only to Bury’s Ben Scranage in heat 15. Reece Pollitt was in top form for Astley & Tyldesley and he lost only to Bury’s Chris Parish in heat 16. Matt Lush recorded the fastest time of the day, 42.80 seconds, when winning heat 25.

Astley & Tyldesley took the overall win in the Junior League match, to reduce Bury’s lead in the table to two points. Hull’s Charlie Wade rode to a 16 points maximum in the u-10s match, with A&T’s Ben Dickinson and Bury’s Daniel Miller both losing only to the Hull rider. A&T’s Max Evans and Heckmondwike’s Tom Whitwam beat each other once, to jointly top score, with 15 points apiece, in the u-13s event. A&T’s Matt Snell lost twice to team mate Evans. A&T’s Reece Pollitt raced unbeaten in the u-16s category, with Hull’s Nathan Everett in second place each time. The Division 2 riders were combined with the two u-19 riders in the last match of the day. Hull’s u-19 rider David Cooper won all his four races, whilst A&T’s Mark Graham and Heckmondwike’s Laura Watson beat each other once, to jointly top score with 15 points each, in the Division 2 riders category.
