RESULT: Aussie rules at East Park

East Park celebrated their 10 year anniversary this afternoon, with no less than five individual events.

Australians Cody Chadwick and Bobby McMillan tied on 19 points and fought it out in a run off for the open title, with Chadwick taking his first victory on GB soil. Paul Heard claimed another podium for 2016 in third.

Leicester’s Elizabeth Rigley fulfilled her great potential by finishing on the top spot in the women’s event after winning the A final. She finished ahead of Exeter’s Lauren Hookway with Charlie-Jane Herbert taking third, ahead of Rigley’s team mate Chloe Whitehead in fourth after qualifying strongly.

In the veterans, Steve Harris added more silverware to his extensive collection, dropping just a single point, ahead of Eurovets champion Mark Winwood and World Veterans champion, Craig Marchant, who both tied on 17 points.

East Park’s own Jamie Whetton won the under 19s A-final ahead of team mate and Jake White, with Sheffield’s Adam Watson taking the third spot and Jake’s brother Zak in fourth. It also saw a swift return to racing for Niall Morton after his horrific leg injury at the Indoors in January, great to see him back on a bike so soon.

It was another East Park and Whetton winner in the Under 14s, this time Josh taking home the spoils with one of Astley and Tyldesley’s finest juniors John White runner up, Birmingham’s Billy Winwood in third and Max Wells finishing in fourth.
