MATCH REPORT: New-look A&T Go-Ride GP underway
Astley & Tyldesley welcomed 24 young riders, including 5 newcomers, to compete in Round 1 of the A&T Go-Ride Grand Prix series, on Tuesday.
This year’s series will be run with three teams contesting four rounds, with six riders in a race in a 15 heats match, to encourage team riding and learning how to race in a bunch.
A&T are not just developing riders in this entry level series, but also developing young volunteer officials, with Emily Burgess and Max Evans serving as managers of the Astley Hurricanes and Tyldesley Typhoons teams respectively, with John White captain of the Gin Pit Storm team.
All three youngsters have been in receipt of Believe Talent Funding from Wigan Council during the past two years.
Tyldesley Typhoons ran out winners of the opening round, with Aiden Green top scoring and Oscar Belt racing unbeaten in his three races in the youngest category. Gin Pit Storm were runners-up, with their captain John White racing to a 24 points maximum.
