Club members and team riders attending Hull Cycle Speedway Club’s annual presentation night, have voted Nathan Everett-Atkinson ‘Club Member of the Year’.
The Hull team who finished runner up in division one of the North and Scotland League included some of the league’s top riders, but it was Nathan Everett Atkinson’s performance in the World Championships in Poland last August that tipped the balance in favour of the Brough youngster.
Riding in his first World Championships 20 year old Everett-Atkinson reached the semi-finals and only just missed out a place in the final. Delighted with the award he explained, “I’ve had a great season and improved my performances, but to be voted ‘Club member of the year’ by your fellow riders is something really special”.
Held at Hessle Rugby Club last Friday evening (29th Nov) the event was attended by over 60 members. Every rider ranging from junior boys & girls to the elite division one team received a plaque commemorating the Club’s most successful season for some time.
The award for ‘Most Improved Rider of the Year’ went to Matt Eglen who, in only his second cycle speedway season, returned some impressive results improving week by week over the season.
Cycle Speedway resumes at the Hessle track next March. The Club is open to all and is ideal for families. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Club Secretary, Andy Schofield on 07948 539098.
