BYJL: Key Information for National Round 2

Words by Mel Perkins MBE

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES are looking forward to welcoming on Saturday young riders from all over the country to the home of one of the leading Clubs for junior racing. To help the day run smoothly here is some key information –

If you are travelling to Norfolk for the first time then allow extra time – we have no motorways!!! If you come from the North via A17 and A47 then be prepared for summer holiday caravan and agricultural traffic. If coming from the West via A14 or the South via M11 you will join the A11 and have the luxury of dual carriageways. However there are long-running road works on the A11 around Wymondham so the suggestion is leave the A11 at Attleborough onto the B1172 which can be followed all the way to Hethersett.

On arrival additional car parking has been allowed on the field adjacent to the car park to ensure no local parking on roads. There will be no refreshment facilities trackside as we are taking the opportunity to use the excellent facilities in the spanking new pavilion with its kitchen and serving hatch. Hot and cold food and drinks will be available from 8.30 a.m. and throughout the day including bacon butties, sausage rolls, pasties and homemade cakes. Refreshment purchases will be by cash only.

Toilets are also in the pavilion with two exterior toilets at the right-hand side plus two more and a disabled / baby changing room accessed by the door adjacent to the kitchen. Anyone wishing to change should use one of the internal spacious toilets. We are one of the first Clubs to be allowed access to the building so please respect it.

Registration will be available from 9 a.m. at a table to the left-hand side of the track. Please be ready with your age category, BC licence number and £4 in cash. Access to the pits area will only be via the right hand side following the concrete paths and access will be carefully controlled due to the limited space.

We are working hard so we hope everyone will have a good day and the recent weather relents to give every rider a fair chance to show their skills.

Any queries or issues on the day please contact club secretary Jenny Melvin on 07534 502964.
