MATCH REPORT: BYJL South & South Wales Regional Round 1

The opening round of the ‘John-Dig-a-Lot’ backed South & South Wales British Youth & Junior League saw a total of 83 riders competing and providing some very enthusiastic, racing in dry (mainly), blustery conditions on the fast Newport Cycle Speedway raceway – with all 6 of the regions clubs managing to get riders through to an A final across the 8 age categories, the Southampton, Newport & Poole clubs providing the individual winners on this occasion and with 112 heats of racing, a great days sport was thoroughly enjoyed by riders, helpers, parents and supporters alike.

In the National Qualifying team competition Poole once again lead the way with 131 pts pipping the hosts Newport to top spot by 23 pts, Southampton third on 79pts and East Newport & Exeter tied 4th on 59pts with Horspath on 16pts
