WEEKEND PREVIEW: Jim Peck Memorial the Highlight of the Weekend’s racing
The 3rd British Youth & Junior League National Round at Great Blakenham tomorrow at 10am kicks off what will be a full day of action at Great Blakenham as following the BYJL will be the Jim Peck Memorial Veterans match at 5pm and then at 7pm it is the 11th staging of the Open Jim Peck Memorial Trophy. The Open event features 9 riders who raced in the British Final at Kesgrave on August Bank Holiday Monday, Josh Brooke (Great Blakenham), the 2 time and current Brtiish Champion and also a 3 time winner of the Jim Peck, Ryker Jolly (Kesgrave), Noah Woodhouse (Kesgrave), Mark Boaler (Horspath), Lewis Brinkhoff (Great Blakenham) who won the Jim Peck in 2021, Lewis Foxley (Hull), Chris Timms (Birmingham), Charlie Parr (Kesgrave) and Matt Hill (Ipswich). Matt’s brother Ashley is also in the line-up, as is another 3 time winner and defending champion for the last 2 years Adam Peck (Great Blakenham), Torsten Jolly (Kesgrave), Mason Martin (Great Blakenham), Lee Aris (Wednesfield), James Porter (Ipswich) and the reigning European Junior Champion Leon Penketh (Southampton)
Moving on to Sunday and there is action in all 4 regions. The South-East region sees Kesgrave make the trip to the South-East Regional Centre to take on Great Blakenham in Divisions 1 and 2 whilst Cycle Speedway’s answer to Football’s “Old Farm Derby” takes place at Whitton Sports Centre as Ipswich take on Norwich in a Division 2 match.
There is 1 match in each of the South & South Wales, Midland and North & Scotland regions. In the South & South Wales region it is their Gold Cup which takes place at Newport. The Midland League sees Leicester take on Wednesfield whilst in the North & Scotland region it is Round 5 of the Northern 4’s and Grand Prix series at Bury
