Hull staged the North & Scotland KO Cup Finals on a hot sunny day at The Hessle Raceway. The day started with The Junior Final and it soon became a contest between Hull and Astley & Tyldesley with Sheffield relying heavily on Oliver Banyard. Hull led by two points at the interval and looked to have gained an advantage when taking a 6-4 over their rivals in heat 7 but Astley & Tyldesley hit back to level the scores at 45 each with Sheffield on 30 points after the programmed twelve heats. In the run-off Hull’s Noah Lyon drew gate two and John White made a tight pass on the first lap to secure the title for a third successive season for Astley & Tyldesley. John was unbeaten for the winners with Frank White only dropping a point to Noah who also only dropped one point in a strong home side with Harry Gibson, Ellwood Harrison and Kacey Bennett all contributing well. A special mention for Noah who has just been named in the GB Junior squad for the World Championships in September.
