The last few weeks have been a busy few in the world of Cycle Speedway as not only was it was Europe’s turn to host the World Championships but they were staged at Norfolk and Suffolk tracks. HETHERSETT HAWKS sponsored by YELLOWBRICK
MORTGAGES were proud hosts to the U16’s semi-finals and finals. A massive club effort saw the track looking it’s best and a fantastic day was had by not only all the riders but also all the spectators – many of whom had travelled from Poland and
Australia – who saw international youth riding at its best. We were also joined by our local MP, Ben Goldsborough, The fortnight saw many different events being staged across both counties and the Hethersett Hawks who took part had a great experience. Our representatives (and their results) were:

Austin

We are hugely proud of all of them as lots of us watched the racing and saw the quality or riders that had entered. A massive thank you to all our club volunteers who worked so hard for the event we staged and, finally, a huge well done to Norwich, Kesgrave,
Great Blakenham and Ipswich for staging such great events. The Women’s League came to its conclusion with Lola finishing an impressive 2nd in the Intermediates and Nyla thoroughly enjoying her first season. Both Lola and Nyla rode for the North and helped them towards a 3rd place overall.

The season is drawing to a close with the final round of the Norfolk Go-Ride Series at Hethersett on the 15th October and also the Hawks Charity Cup Day and Club Championships. It has been another busy but hugely enjoyable season and we are already looking forward to next year!
