Mike was one of the sport’s top referees and died at the end of March having been in hospital for 19 weeks. He gave so much time to cycle speedway travelling miles to referee many top class matches.
The death of former Norwich rider Stevie was announced at the end of May. Here’s how it was reported on the Norwich Cycle Speedway Facebook page:
“It’s with sadness that Norwich Stars received the news that Stevie Moore, one of its former riders, has passed away.
“As a young lad Stevie joined the club in the1980s. Living in Hellesdon, and very close to the former Norwich Stars track, Stevie and his father Ronnie, soon became very involved with the club.
“Primarily racing as a member of the successful Norwich Stars junior side, Stevie soon progressed to become a very good rider, and a major force within the squad.
“He was a part of the 1985 Norwich Junior team that campaigned and reached the National Junior Team final against Poole at Sandwell.
“Always keen to improve himself, Stevie progressed with his racing, and a few years later he succeeded in appearing in the Under 18 National Individual Championship final.
“To add to his achievements, Stevie also won a Norfolk individual title in late 1980s, and as he continued to develop as a rider, became a regular rider in the Norwich Senior team.
“Stevie was always smartly turned out, took his cycle speedway racing seriously, and was very well liked. He and his father both played pivotal parts in the Norwich Stars club of the era. He will be sadly missed by those fellow club members that raced alongside him.
“Our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends”
