MATCH REPORT: Wednesfield in charge

Newport Cycle Speedway Club entertained Elite League title favourites, Wednesfield at Newport Sports Village. The Midlanders ran out comfortable victors in front of a large crowd, by 105 to 73.

Wednesfield made a fantastic start, gaining heat advantages in their first 8 heats to lead at the break by 21 points. Newport, although down on first teamers again, were giving it their all with Evans and Carmichael impressing, but the aces with Smith and Mould looking particularly quick had a lot more depth to their team. They currently look odds on favourites to be crowned Elite League champions this year. The welsh team on the other hand, will be in a battle with Ipswich and Poole for the wooden spoon.
