MATCH REPORT: Horspath claim Gold Cup honours

The Gold Cup lived up to its reputation for close racing as a three way battle for the trophy between the 3 SW Elite clubs saw Horspath lift the trophy on their own circuit, finishing a single point ahead of league champions Newport and defending cup holders Poole a further 3 points away.

Had it not been for a tapes exclusion for Dan Bock in heat 17, the positions may well have been reversed while Poole were hampered by a heat 11 7-3 reversal at the hands of Rose Bowl winners Swindon. Horspath were greatly boosted by the inclusion of Mark Boaler who has been largely absent from any S&SW regional racing this season and his 21 points tally matched that of team colleague and British Champion Zac Payne.
