NEWS: Hellingly back racing in South East region

Hellingly Lions will be back to league racing in 2016, but moving over to South East region instead of South and South Wales. A statement on their Facebook page said:

“After some busy winter months off track we can now confirm our home fixtures for the 2016 season, the committee which was formed during the close season have been and are continuing to work hard in order to improve our riding strength and also improve our facilities and equipment.

The biggest off track change this season is the decision to join the South Eastern region for our league fixtures, after a great deal of time racing in the South and South Wales region this was not a decision that was taken lightly but one that the committee felt would breathe some fresh air into the club.

On the riding side Martyn Hollebon, Neil Hollebon, Edward Ridley, Jesse Moore, Tristan Bassett, Jamie Cox and Etienne Patel will all be continuing to ride for the club, Grant Packham will be available for some fixtures after training with us last year and we are pleased to announce that Steven Archer, Ben Glanville and Jamie Morley and Phoebe-Henrietta Kemp will be rejoining the club in varying capacaties to add to the riding strength.

Our focus this year will be stability of the oldest cycle speedway club still running in the world and will also include a massive youth recruitment drive, after a couple of seasons where the club looked like it would be struggling to survive this is great news for all concerned with the club.

The new Chairman/Secretary Barry Carpenter said “I would like to thank everybody from within and outside the club that have given me the help, advice and assistance in order to ease me into the roles, I would also like to thank all those that have helped with funding via advertising boards and event sponsorships, we still have available spaces so if you haven’t yet been in touch and are able to assist in anyway I would be very pleased to hear from you. I can be contacted via messenger on here, via our website or by email at hellinglylionscyclespeedway@btinternet.com.””
