MATCH REPORT: Faultless Hawks power to victory over Panthers

Hethersett Hawks achieved a double victory on their first away trip of the season at Kesgrave. A full-strength first team produced a faultless display with excellent teamwork that ensured they did not lose a single race on their way to a 93-67 victory.

Rider/Manager Dan Chambers was unstoppable showing a lot of speed around the banked circuit, while skipper Leigh Cossey dropped just one point in his first outing of the season.

Dan Butler had been dropped to substitute berth but responded when called upon to replace the injured Josh Herring and produced two speedy wins.

The Hawks tracked an experienced side in the B team to face a Kesgrave side full of very promising youngsters and they proved just too strong in a very competitive match. Olly Buxton produced good team riding and was unbeaten with Owen Wells showing how much he has improved.

The Hawks squad left Suffolk in good spirits with a positive team ethic to face future challenges, the next one being Ipswich Eagles at home on April 24th.

The previous day 38 riders from around the region accepted the challenge of horrendous weather and track conditions at Hethersett to compete in the first regional Youth & Junior League and Grand Prix event.

Six Hethersett riders took part, the best performance coming from Owen Wells who came second in the Under-17s final. Other placements were Olly Buxton (Seniors 3rd) Leo Mallett (Under-10s 4th), Lee Hulcoop (Seniors 4th) Giles Awbery (Under-12s 5th) and Daniel Longlands (UNder-14s 7th).
