CLUB NEWS: Birmingham back in league action on Sunday
Birmingham Monarchs entertain Coventry in Midland League action at Perry Hall Playing fields on Sunday.
The resurgent Hearsall Common outfit have gone from strength to strength since they reformed and always have a great variety of talented riders.
British international Myke Grimes leads the side while Mason Phillips is making big strides in the sport.
The Monarchs are still without a couple of their lower-order riders, while No.1 Chris Timms (pictured right) is still a doubt due to his ongoing knee injury.
Despite these issues, Monarchs have won both their league matches so far and will be looking to maintain that unbeaten run. Racing starts at 1pm for the juniors while senior actions starts at 2pm.
A Birmingham ‘select’ team took part in the European Club Championships in Poland last weekend but failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
Monarchs’ juniors rode in the East Park invitation last Sunday. Ryan Winwood finished second with Connor Steel third.
The veteran Monarchs started their Eurovets series campaign at the new track in Stoke but all three failed to make the A final this time. Paul Timms was fifth and Steve Hodgkinson (sixth) in the 50s, while Mark Winwood finished eighth in the 40s.
