CLUB NEWS: Wednesfield success at Wolverhampton Sports Advisory Council Awards

Members of Wednesfield Cycle Speedway Club have been recognised by The City Of Wolverhampton Sports Advisory Council Awards 2016.

This is a prestigious award given by the Mayor of Wolverhampton for services and achievements by sports men and women across all Sporting clubs in Wolverhampton.

The award of merit goes to Tony Mullinder, who has worked tearlessly as Team Manager,  coach and committee member behind the scenes at Wednesfield for over 30 years and was project manager for the club house rebuild after the arson attack in 2014.

Another award of merit was received by Mark Griffiths. A Wednesfield Cycle Speedway legend, who has won numerous accolades in Cycle Speedway, and is a respected for his sportsmanship to all his competitors, as well as his commitment to Wednesfield Aces and Dragons throughout his CS career.

The final award of merit went to Brandon Whetton. Brandon won the 2016 British Youth and Junior League title as well as becoming the European Junior champion and representing England and Great Britain.

Wednesfield Aces won the Team of the Year. The Aces won another Midland league title and  were KO Cup and Club Championship champions in 2016. They also finished runners up in the Elite League series.

All recipients of the awards will also celebrate another fantastic season of achievements at the Wednesfield Aces awards evening on Saturday 26th November at Gilberts Bar, Willenhall 7.30pm start.
